Aleksandar Antic, Serbia's energy minister, said the government planned to increase its capacity by 1,000 megawatts by 2020.
Serbia plans to increase its capacity by 1,000 megawatts by 2020.The 500 megawatts of new capacity will be renewable energy, including 450 megawatts of wind power.
This year, the government of Serbia expects a 48-megawatt Alibunar wind farm, a 105-megawatt Kovacica wind farm and a 100mw Cibuk wind farm.
"This will have a major impact on our energy security."Antic pointed out.
Last October, Mr Antic said that renewable energy would account for 27 per cent of total installed capacity by 2020, and that the new wind farm would help.
In January, Elicio, a Belgian renewable energy group, said it planned to complete a turbine installation of the 42-megawatt Alibunar wind farm in Serbia by September.
